Chatswood Transport Interchange

Chatswood, NSW

The Chatswood Transport Interchange formed part of the Chatswood to Epping Rail Link, requiring the integration of the eastern end of the new railway line from Epping with the existing North Shore Line. The project involved the demolition and re-construction of Chatswood Railway Station to incorporate two new train platforms, associated rail lines, and signalling systems.

Scope of Works

The development included a multi-level car park underneath the station, new platforms, a large pedestrian mall, complete realignment of the railway easement, over 10,000 square metres of retail space above the train platforms, and preparation for three future residential towers.

All construction work was carried out during the daily operation of the heavily used North Shore Rail Line — a significant logistical challenge that demanded meticulous planning and coordination to minimise disruption to commuters.

Our Role

While at another consultancy, our team served as Independent Certifier and Contracts Manager for the joint venture partners. The role involved monitoring, assessing, verifying and reporting on the progressive draw-down of finance.

Specific duties included the review and certification of site progress via Separable Portions, as well as the review and determination of Extensions of Time Claims.
