Allied Mills Flour & Maize Mill

Picton, NSW

Executive Project Management was introduced to Allied Mills four months after the project had commenced. Allied Mills is a joint venture between Grain Corp Australia and Cargill (USA), the largest privately owned food company in the world.

This was the first Greenfield Flour & Maize Mill built in Australia in 50 years. The project encompassed the construction of Mills A, B & C — all multi-storey high Grain Silos using slip form construction technique, Storage Warehouses including Racking Systems, Weighbridge and Concourse Works, Maize Silos, Underground Conveyor Systems, and 2 kilometres of Rail Siding including Switching and Signalling Works for freight trains over 500 metres long.

Our Role

Executive Project Management provided Project Management of the Base Building Head Contractor (John Holland), Superintendence, and Contract Administration. We also managed the negotiation with various Separable Contractors including:

  • Equipment Supplier — Bühler (Switzerland)
  • Electrical Contractor — Bray Wigg
  • Maize Mill Silo Contractor — Grainmaster
  • Racking Supplier — Dexion Australia
  • Rail Siding Contractor — Robson Civil

Outcome

The successful delivery of this facility enabled Allied Mills to lower production costs for major customers including Aldi and Woolworths.
